Openreach have been rolling out fibre broadband to the property (FTTP) in Frome and have been very active in Keyford over recent months. They have a plan to roll out fibre to all properties in the Frome Exchange area by April 2024. This means speeds of up to 1000mbps are available and bearing in mind most of us in the rural areas have speeds that vary from 1 to 12mbps, full fibre will be transformational.
Fibre to your property means no more buffering, fast downloads, perfect video calls and very reliable connections. The pricing for the basic packages are no more than you’ll be paying today for a far inferior service.
Openreach are making their plans for the rollout outside Frome now, so please register your interest in Superfast Fibre Broadband on the Openreach website. (It’s not a binding commitment just an expression of interest. )
Having FTTP is an increasingly important factor in the value of your property. Openreach is the backbone virtually all other providers run on – Sky, EE, Shell, BT, Vodafone, Plusnet, Talk Talk etc.
Update 30 June 2024
Connecting Devon and Somerset the organisation who are responsible for rural broadband suspended Truespeed the provider for this area in 2022. No new provider has been chosen. CDS seem to be more focused on Devon than Somerset.
It has been reported on fibreprovider.net and frome nub.news that Openreach’s build out from the Frome exchange will be completed in August 2024. They say they hope to reach the majority of homes by this date. Please register your interest in Superfast Fibre Broadband on the Openreach website. they should then, eventually, send you an email confirming if you are in their build plans or not. If not please contact Councillor Hammons (r.hammons@selwoodparishcouncil.gov.uk). He will then look into setting up a Community Fibre Broadband for the properties not in the build plans. Thank you.
